EARLY BEGINNINGS:

The Cordova Civitan Club was chartered on Sept. 17, 2009 at the Butcher Shop Restaurant in Cordova, Tn with 35 members present. The event was a tribute to George Moreland, Civitan International field director, who was evolving the club, along with Bob and Judith Craig. Moreland passed away on Aug. 10, 2009, prior to the event.  George was very active in Civitan International serving as Club President, Valley District Governor, Area Director, and was currently Governor-at-large. He was also Field Representative for Civitan International. He was responsible for building 10 Civitan clubs in the Valley District  area, which includes Desoto County in Mississippi, all of West and Middle Tennessee and Southwestern Kentucky-Collierville, Cordova, Germantown, Olive Branch, Southaven, Mt. Juliet, Ohio County, Pleasant View, and Martin Civitan Clubs.
