THE CORDOVA CIVITAN
CLUB
WHO WE ARE:
CORDOVA CIVITAN CLUB IS A PART OF CIVITIAN INTERNATIONAL.
"Civitan International is an organization of volunteer service clubs around the world, dedicated to helping people in their own communities. Civitans help wherever the need arises – from collecting food for a homeless shelter, to volunteering at their local retirement home, to building a playground for children with disabilities. Civitans have been helping people since the organization’s founding in 1917, by a group of businessmen determined to make a difference in their community.
In the 1950’s, Civitan adopted a special emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities. Civitan was one of the major supporters of Special Olympics International, and thousands of Civitans still support these local events. Civitan clubs also fund and organize special camps and events for people with developmental disabilities..........
Every day, Civitans make a difference in their local communities and around the world. If you would like to know more about Civitan International, please contact us here, or call 1-800-CIVITAN."

The worldwide mission of Civitan International is to build good citizenship by providing a
volunteer organization of clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs, with
an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.
The centerpiece of this focus is the UAB Civitan International Research Center, founded in
1991 through an ongoing financial commitment from Civitan. Located at the University of

through the research and treatment of developmental disabilities and other cognitive
disorders.

long-running fundraisers, such as the Civitan International Annual Golf Benefit, the
Civitan Candy Box and Coin Box programs, the Junior Civitan Dance-a-Thon, and more.
Civitans help people in their communities through hands-on service projects, outreach
programs, and fundraisers for local charitable causes. Civitan has a history of partnership
with other organizations, and gave crucial early support to Radio Free Europe, the Boy
